Some Things Are Turnoffs – Except When They’re Not

You know what’s great? Having someone you can talk to about dirty stuff, especially the dirty stuff you need to keep secret. She recently pointed me to a new website devoted to toon porn, called 8muses.com, which seems pretty decent. We’re both into toon porn, I’ve mentioned before my fondness for it, so when I find a cache of quality toon porn I’m happy. (Most the stuff on 8muses seems good, though I haven’t gone too deep yet.) When she told me about it, though, the conversation was kind of… off. It was like she wanted to talk to me about something, but was having trouble figuring out how to broach the subject, which isn’t usual for us. (I’ve had posts on this blog that were difficult to start like that.) Eventually she got into the topic that I think she had wanted to discuss all along, and I could see why she was so hesitant.

Her dilemma, if I may phrase it that way, was this: She found a series that she liked, called Ay Papi by JAB, but she liked it despite herself because the series features incest and she’s not into incest. Luckily she had come to the right person, because not only am I happy to talk about porn, not only am I the type of person who’s not going to judge her for liking something I don’t, but I was even familiar with the comic in question. My immediate reaction was that I hadn’t liked Ay Papi when I came across it, for exactly the reason that it’s about incest, but I could see why someone would. At the time I’d found myself wanting to like it. As comics go this was a good one: drawn in a way I liked, the storyline was fun.

Wait – did I just say the storyline was good? But isn’t it about incest? How can I like the storyline if it’s about incest, when incest is such a turnoff? Which was sort of the same problem my friend was raising to me, the only difference being that she seemed to have stuck with it longer than I did.

I promised to give it another chance, I think she wanted to know if she was crazy, so I went back to 8muses and read through it again, and we talked about it some more. The consensus we came to is that comics featuring incest can still be hot, despite the incest, if there’s something else to like about it. If it’s purely a comic (or whatever) about incest I’m not going to be turned on, but if that’s just one aspect of it, it can be OK. If you can twist your brain a little bit to concentrate on the non-incestual stuff and ignore the fact that, hey, that guy is fucking his daughter, then it can be OK. There was even something about the way the whole situation was so fucked up in Ay Papi that was engaging to read. “What’s that pervert going to do next?” Even the fact that the incest part was taboo was a bit titillating, even though – and I’ll directly quote my friend here – “That being said… incest really disgusts me.”

And that’s kind of where we stand. We both seem to enjoy Ay Papi, and I imagine we’ll look at other comics by JAB, yet we’re not happy about the fact that we’re enjoying a comic that heavily features incest. (I also worry that the girl in the comic seems too young; my friend says that the girl’s age is kind of ambiguous and it’s never really stated how young she is, which is true, though my initial impression, when reading the comic years ago, was that she was too young, which was also a huge turn-off – one that I couldn’t overlook the same way I now seem to be able to overlook the incest.)

So this was a new thing for me. Something that was incest-based, but still erotic. Er… sort of a new thing. Not… like… not completely a new thing.

Let me explain.

There was a video I’d been tempted to put up for a Friday Fuck Flix post (back when I was doing those), and just couldn’t bring myself to do it. You don’t want a bunch of deformed children running around. Though that wouldn’t be the case with a stepfather and stepdaughter, would it? So who knows, maybe he fucked her pussy. I sometimes wish my memory worked better.)

There was something about the setup of that scene, the whole scenario, that was a turn-on, while at the same time part of my brain had to ignore the fact that he was her stepfather. (At least they did that for me: made him her stepdad instead of her dad.) If he’d been, I don’t know, a teacher or something it would have been better for my own sanity, but he wasn’t, he was her stepfather. (Well… really, he was an actor, and so was she, and their ages probably weren’t even that different. But that’s not what I was thinking while I was watching the scene. It’s called suspension of disbelief.)

So that was a bit of a divergence into a particular scene, but what’s the net of all of this? I guess I’d sum up by saying that even though I’m still not turned on by incest – in fact I’m actively turned off by incest – I can still enjoy porn in which incest makes an appearance, as long as it has something else going for it that allows me to ignore the aspects that I don’t enjoy.
