Wow, the People Who Write for “Barstool Sports” are Misogynistic Assholes

I came across this article from a site called “Barstool Sports,” which I’d never heard of before. I should have been tipped off that this was going to be a bad article from the very first sentence:

Ever since controversial undergrad/Duke porn star Belle Knox announced she’d be headlining her first strip show in NYC on Friday, college students have been racing to the poles.

There’s a profound lack of understanding of human nature in that sentence. Are college girls really so flighty that all it takes is hearing about a girl who became a pornstar and suddenly they’re going to go into porn (or stripping) in droves? You know what I’m going to say to that: I wish it was the case – we can always use more pornstars! – but no, don’t be stupid, that’s not how it works. Idiot.

This opening sentence is followed by profiles of a few girls who went into stripping, and the profiles actually aren’t bad, they mostly let the girls speak for themselves, which is good. But then the human garbage who wrote the post finished it off with this:

You guys hear that? Listen close. Real close. Thats the sound of 3 fathers blowing their brains out. And you know what? Its probably a lot more than three. There’s probably an entire army of fathers out there ready to all just hold hands and walk off a cliff together. Because Belle Knox has inspired a generation of chicks to jump on the pole. An entire demographic of girls who are now thinking about getting naked and having sex for money. She’s like the Michael Jordan of desperate broads. You know how everyone growing up playing basketball in the late 90s and 2000s wanted to wear number 23 because of MJ? Stuck their tongue out driving to the hoop and practiced their fadeaway jumper? Thats whats going on right now with chicks and Belle Knox. They want to follow in that hooker’s footsteps.

I’ll tell you what I’m doing if I’m a father of a daughter right now – I’m just flat out telling her not to go to college. If they don’t go to college, they don’t have loans and bills and tuition. Wont be tempted to do porn and be strippers. I’d rather my daughter be dumb, uneducated and unsuccessful than a porn star with debt.

Holy shit, people, I didn't realize this kind of double standard still existed in the world! Let’s set aside the fact that this is a post on a site which seems to regularly feature something called a “Local Smokeshow,” where they post scantily clad photos of hot girls, because… testosterone. But aside from that you know, you know, that the douchebag who wrote this post loves going to strip clubs himself, and frankly he’s probably an asshole to the girls there (because he thinks he’s superior to them). But then he got it into his head that girls are going to go into porn in droves because they suddenly have a role model, and then he went further and started thinking about his daughter (god I hope this guy doesn’t actually have a daughter). Notice the lovely phrasing where he calls Knox “the Michael Jordan of desperate broads” – nice!

But the pièce de résistance is the final paragraph, where he says he’d rather his daughter be dumb, uneducated and unsuccessful than a pornstar with debt. Let’s be clear: this douchebag would rather his daughter be dumb, uneducated and unsuccessful period: this is the type of guy who thinks a woman’s place is in the kitchen. Education is for boys, not for girls! (Based on the spelling and grammar in this post it obviously wasn’t for him, either.) (Yes, I went there.)

I don’t know what it was about this post that got my blood boiling so badly that I felt like coming here and writing a rant, but it did. Maybe it’s just the sheer hypocrisy: I’d be willing to bet money that this guy spends time in strip clubs, and in order for him to do so he needs a steady stream of girls to work there. Where are they going to come from?

I guess what he really needs to do, in order to live with his shitty self, is dehumanize the girls in the strip clubs so that he doesn’t feel bad about ogling them and trying to fuck them. There are “strippers” and there are “actual living, breathing human girls.” He can feel up the tits and get sleazy blowjobs from girls in the first category without feeling bad about himself, but the idea of sullying girls in the second category gets him angry.

Or maybe I’m misjudging him. Perhaps this man is a fine, upstanding member of the Moral Majority, and he’s against any lust or sex outside of marriage – let alone strip clubs or porn! – altogether. He just happened to end up working for a blog that keeps putting up posts of “Local Smokeshows.”

Seriously, I just scrolled down their homepage, and more than half of the “articles” were these “Local Smokeshow” posts. How do you do that over and over again, and then put up a post decrying the moral degeneracy of girls going into stripping or porn because they saw someone else do it?

I really should be focused on how dumb the writer of that post thinks college girls are, that they’re so easily seduced into sex work just because they saw someone else do it – he probably got that idea from watching porn, the most realistic depiction of college girls he’ll ever get – but this rant already got too long, so I’ll stop typing now.
