The Stats on Internet Porn

Did you know that 1 in 3 porn viewers are women? (I thought it would be higher.)

Did you know that 2.5 billion emails per day are pornographic in nature?

Or that 35% of all downloads are pornographic? (That seems low to me too, actually.)

Did you know that the average age a child first sees internet porn is 11? (That’s a question I’ve wondered aloud on this blog, so now I have an answer.)

I’m pulling all of this from an infographic I saw on HuffPo. Some of it was amusing (the American state with the highest porn subscription rate is Utah – but that’s probably because folks in Utah are so honest that they’re actually subscribing and paying for it), some of it was questionable (the stat on the number of child pornography searches is kind of meaningless to me because there’s no way to tell how many of those searches were from people trying to eliminate it or look up information on it vs. people who were searching it out), and some was just plain surprising (20% of men and 13% of women admit to watching porn at work – which, actually, might not be that surprising if people work from home, in which case I’d be part of that 20% if I were American).
