News Coverage of Spring Break in America

I don’t know if Spring Break is something that’s “celebrated” all over the world, but they make a big deal out of it here in North America. It’s a week in the Spring that colleges and universities around the country take off so that the students can prepare for exams. By which I mean: drive to Florida, strip down to bikinis, get shitfaced, and have lots of sex. Of course, if you look for pictures of Spring Break you’ll mostly see white kids, for reasons I’ve discussed before.

If you watch the news in America you’ll see the occasional story about Spring Break, in which the “journalists” engage in a lot of hand wringing and panicking about the youth of today, and the dangers they put themselves in, but I can forgive them for that.

When they talk about the “dangers” of Spring Break they’re always talking about the danger to girls, not to boys, because we still live in a society in which girls need to be protected from sex at all costs, and “boys will be boys” and can fuck whoever they want with no consequences – though the people who think this way are usually very much against homosexuality, so those boys will need girls to fuck, won’t they? Oh well, as long as it’s not my daughter it’s someone else’s problem! But I can forgive them for that.

Talking about the danger to girls might be a good thing if it was a responsible, mature discussion of rape culture in North America, but it’s not. Rape isn’t usually even mentioned by name. The “danger” talked about in the news is that of young girls ruining their lives by having consensual sex. What if she gets pregnant? What if she gets an STD? (What if she’s not a pure virgin for her future husband!?!) It’s a given in these conversations that you couldn’t possibly expect the dude to take responsibility for his actions! He was just getting laid – that’s what guys do! That slut should have thought about pregnancy before she spread her legs!

But I can forgive them for that.

Much of the conversation going on is also blatantly hypocritical, with the “journalists” bemoaning how wild kids are these days but then in the same breath reminiscing about their own Spring Break adventures, when they got so wasted, dude, and it was, like, awesome! But I can even forgive them for that.

And why am I so forgiving of the media for these ridiculous Spring Break pieces? Why am I letting them slide for such incredible lapses of journalistic integrity? It’s because it’s obvious – to me and to everyone else – that these stories exist for one reason and one reason only: they want to put up video of young hot girls in bikinis shaking their tits and asses. That shit’s ratings gold, y’all, and we can’t get enough of it. My advice at Spring Break time is to turn on the news, mute the sound, and let the bouncing white titties and buns relax you after a long day of work. You’ve earned it! Some stations will just put up one clip and play it over and over again, which can get boring after a while – we need variety – but that’s OK, just flip the channel to another station and watch their Spring Break titty fest.
